Hard RFID Tags

RFID hard tags are tags where the RFID tag is in a robust packaging that is in many cases specially designed for specific applications.  In most cases, these tags must last the entire life of the object on which they are applied. The choice of the tag is primarily determined by the composition of the object on which they are applied. Hard tags come in various shapes, sizes and with different mounting options. There is an important distinction to be made between metal objects, liquids or others. All require a specific approach. For example, a series of specific RFID tags have been designed for logistics applications, such as pallet identification or RTI (Returnable Transport Item) identification. Depending on the composition of the pallet or RTI, an on-metal tag or a free-air tag is then chosen. The shape of the tag also depends on the object on which it must be placed, as well as the various processes, treatments or movements that the object may undergo daily. Therefore, it is not only the specifications of the tags that are important. It is at least as important to test the performance of the tags within your own environment and application. Only then can you make the right choice from the many thousands of tags.
