Revolution Pi: the most versatile industrial minicomputer

Have you heard of the Raspberry Pi? This palm-sized mini-computer has been used for more than 10 years to test technical prototypes, particularly in universities and by creative hobbyists. The Raspberry Pi has been instrumental in the development of the 'Internet of Things'. This ingenious device now has an industrial version: the Revolution Pi. What are some of the applications where this small, versatile industrial computer can be used?

Wide range of uses

Simply put, the Revolution Pi is a device that collects and transmits data. This can be useful in many business processes. For example, in energy management, a Revolution Pi can transmit sensor data from solar panels, air conditioning, heat pumps and electricity to a computer for processing. In the medical sector, the Revolution Pi can be useful for monitoring patients in a central system. In agrotechnology, this minicomputer can help to efficiently organise large-scale livestock facilities. In home automation, the Revolution Pi combines the operation of various devices - from garage doors to heating and lighting - into one convenient overview. The Revolution Pi can be used in virtually all markets and sectors.

The 5 great strengths of the small Revolution Pi

Low power consumption

Thanks to its processor based on ARM architecture, the Revolution Pi has very low power consumption. This is very interesting when you need hundreds of them to collect the right data.

Industrial version

The Revolution Pi is rugged and can withstand high temperatures and vibrations.

Software legacy

Thanks to the history of Raspberry Pi, a lot of software has already been developed by a large community of developers. This means that there is never a need to start the configuration process from scratch.

Real-time

The Revolution Pi is also designed for real-time operation, for example when linked to a Linux operating system such as CODESYS Control. This allows processes to be accurately managed and controlled.

Modular

The biggest advantage of the Revolution Pi is its modularity. There are a number of connectors with options for expansion. You simply add what you need to the Revolution Pi, such as digital and analogue inputs and outputs, relay outputs and fieldbus gateways (PROFINET, PROFIBUS, EtherCAT and EtherNet). This allows the Revolution Pi to communicate seamlessly with any existing industrial device, and there is no need to worry about different built-in components that need to be replaced every year, bringing processes to a standstill.

A revolutionary answer to your question?

Microtron has recently added the Revolution Pi from Kunbus to its range. These minicomputers can now be used in a solution tailored to your needs. Interested? The first step is to tell us what you want to achieve and what data you want to collect.

Our sales engineers will then work on your specific application. Wherever possible, they will take advantage of the unique features of the Revolution Pi. We can also take care of the software configuration. In other cases, where a complex process requires more processing power, we can recommend a larger industrial computer (Box PC or Panel PC) from our range. Whatever your needs, you can count on a reliable and effective solution.
