Annoying, or even worse, dramatic events force us to face the facts: a smartphone as communication tool does not always suffice. Not so much because of the limited battery life, but because the phone should always work and must have network coverage, regardless climatological or other extreme conditions.
The smartphone we all carry with us is not always suitable for getting in touch with emergency services in case of an emergency. There is poor reception in tunnels or metro stations and in extreme situations you might also face network overloads, so that contacting emergency services is not possible at all. That requires an alternative: emergency telephony.
For the supply of emergency phones, Microtron entered into a partnership with GAI-Tronics. The emergency phones of this supplier are adapted to the circumstances in which a smartphone often tends to fail. The equipment is completely protected against dust, can handle severe shocks and can be used even in extremely moist conditions. The IP65-norm, that the emergency phones comply with, means that they are resistant to dust and water jets. The phones are fitted with firm housing, lids that cannot simply break and the receiver is connected to the phone by means of an extremely strong wire. The phones can be supplied with, for instance, analogue connection, VOIP and, GSM-modules.
Advice about emergency phones?
The security offered by emergency phones provides peace. Since the numerous attacks in Europe, such as in the Brussels metro and at Zaventem airport, Microtron detects increased interest in the safety phones. Microtron notices that authorities and transport companies install increased numbers of emergency phones after they had proven to be extremely useful in the attacks. For some projects the initial order was relatively modest, but was scaled up when it became clear what a reliable emergency phone could mean in times of need. In addition, the telephones are a durable solution. Where previously users were required to replace their phones, after having used them in tunnels, for four or five months, they can now be used a lot longer.
When investing in the emergency phones it is always important to consider the requirements of the surroundings and the user. Choosing one type is an option, but perhaps a mix better matches the ideal solution. Whoever is in search of customisation, has any questions, or would simply prefer one point of contact, can always go to Microtron.
